  A non-lattice periodic point set beating the optimal lattice packing-covering constant in dimension five

  We exhibit a $2$-periodic non-lattice point set of ${\mathbb{R}}^5$ with $\gamma =9/\sqrt{40}=1.423024\dots <{\gamma }_5=\sqrt{3/2+\sqrt{13}/6}=1.4494568\dots$, so that in dimension five the packing-covering problem is not solved by lattices.

  Horizon saddle connections and Veech groups of infinite-type dilation surfaces

  We prove that if $S$ is a surface with self-similar end space and every end is accumulated by genus, then every countable subgroup of $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ can be realized as the Veech group of a dilation surface homeomorphic to $S$.
