Let $M_{1}$ , $\dots$ , $M_{ℓ}$ be complete manifolds of the same dimension, where $2 \leq ℓ \in N$ . Suppose that each $M_{i}$ satisfies two side Gaussian bounds. If some of these manifolds are parabolic and there exists a constant $1 \leq n_{i} \leq 2$ such that for some $x_{i} \in M_{i}$ with $1 \leq r \leq R < \infty$ , $c_{i} (\frac{R}{r})^{n_{i}} \leq \frac{V o l _{M_{i}} ( B ( x _{i} , R ))}{V o l _{M_{i}} ( B ( x _{i} , r ))} \leq C_{i} (\frac{R}{r})^{n_{i}},$ by assuming that all the manifolds satisfy the relative connectedness of the annuli ( $R C A$ ) condition introduced by Grigor'yan and Saloff-Coste, we show that the Riesz transform $\nabla L^{- 1/2}$ is bounded on $L^{q} (M)$ for each $1 < q < 2$ on the gluing manifold $M = M_{1} # M_{2} # \dots # M_{ℓ}$ .
