Main result
To the Editor: In the B-Well 1 and B-Well 2 trials, Hou et al. (June 25 issue) 1 found that 20% and 19%, respectively, of selected patients with nucleoside or nucleotide analogue (NA)–suppressed chronic hepatitis B had a functional cure at week 72 after bepirovirsen treatment, an important advance for finite-duration therapy.
Limitation the authors admit
Because functional cure does not require eradication of covalently closed circular DNA or integrated hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA, this interval may not fully predict durable control without ongoing treatment.
