Nonvanishing of cohomology for groups
In the authors' words
Let be a finite group. We prove that the order of the abelianization divides the order of for every . As a consequence, for a field , nonvanishing of implies nonvanishing of for every . This answers a conjecture by Erdmann, Kl\'asz and Marczinzik. We use this to show that the Hochschild cohomology of is nonzero in every nonnegative degree whenever the characteristic of divides .
