Edge ideals of complements of a class of circular interval graphs
In the authors' words
Let be the -th power of the cycle on vertices, and let be its complement, where and . We prove that every induced subcomplex of the clique complex of is homotopy equivalent either to a disjoint union of contractible complexes or to a circle, and we establish this dichotomy for a larger class of circular interval graphs. As a consequence, we obtain a closed formula for the linear strand of the Betti table of . We also prove that is a Buchsbaum ring of depth and that the independence complex of is a triangulated -manifold with boundary for , namely a M\"obius band or an annulus when . For the complement of every graph in the above class, we show that for all , where denotes the induced matching number. In particular, some power of has a linear resolution if and only if . In this range, we further prove that the colon ideals , where and is a minimal monomial generator of , have regularity .
